Project overview

Our weather can give your exterior wood a hard time, and if left unprotected, it could crack, split or peel. You’ve got two choices when it comes to protecting exterior wood. Our Quick Dry Woodstain is rainproof in just 30 minutes – perfect if you need fast protection. 5 Year Woodstain takes a little longer, it’s rainproof in an hour, but you’ll be guaranteed to get 5 years protection, so your wood will stay looking its best for longer.

Before you start

Before you start, remove any metalwork and cover any areas you don’t want to get stain on.

Give the wood a good sand to make sure the woodstain sticks.

Using your stain

Give the tin a good stir, and then brush on in the direction of the grain. Check you’re happy with the colour of the stain by trying it on a small hidden patch of wood.

3 coats will give you the best protection. After the second, give the door a light sand, this’ll make the third coat look even better.

Now, it’ll look great, and have more than enough protection for whatever the weather throws at it.
